General Assembly and DOMSE Parish Life Conference 2022

Blessed Feast of St. Peter and Paul!

We recently held our annual General Assembly to discuss the events of the past year and elect new mission council members. Thank God, we raised enough funds to purchase our building this year. Now we are focused on developing our ministries within St. Nicholas and the broader Jackson community. The work of building a mission is truly a labor of love in cooperation with God's grace, and we are grateful for an abundance of both.

We also participated in the Diocese of Miami and the South East annual Parish Life Conference in Memphis, TN with His Grace Bishop NICHOLAS. Several families were able to attend the PLC and benefited from the fellowship and encouragement of this event.

Our Creative Arts Festival participants and Bible Bowl teams did a wonderful job! Among our Creative Arts Festival Participants, Ada Snowden received 3rd place for Visual Arts for 6th Grade! This was our first year to participate in the Bible Bowl, and we were the only parish with team T-shirts (designed by one of our teens, Peter Snowden). Our Pre-Teen Bible Bowl team came in 1st place in the pre-teen category and 3rd overall for the youth teams! Our Teen Bible Bowl team came in 2nd place for teens! Our Adult Bible Bowl team came in 2nd place for adults!

Next week we will send several of our teens to Camp St. Thekla. Camp St. Thekla is an Orthodox Christian summer camp operated by DOMSE and is accredited by the American Camp Association.

Thank you to all our parishioners, mission council members, our Bible Bowl participants, and those who produced and sent in student art. Thank you to our our Bible Bowl coaches, James and Mary Fox, Laura Wilson, and Hannah Snowden. Thank you to Jesse Cox for chanting with the choir in the services, and to Renee Kleinsasser for representing the Antiochian Women. Thank you to everyone who encouraged our youth to participate in camp and who aided them in any way! Glory to Jesus Christ!
