Soul Saturday, March 17

We will celebrate the Divine Liturgy on Saturday, March 17 for Soul Saturday. This is a day set aside to pray for and remember our departed loved ones. We pause as a Church to remember them, and we sing, “May their memory be eternal,” asking that God remember them, also.

At the end of the Liturgy we pray a memorial service for our loved ones and bless and share kolliva, a sweet dish of boiled wheat. The kolliva symbolizes the resurrection from the dead and reminds us of the Lord’s words, “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12:24).

If you would like to submit names of your loved ones to be included in the memorial, please give them to Fr. Matthew in advance:
