Feasts and Fasts!

August 1-14th is the fast for the Dormition (falling asleep) of the Theotokos followed by the feast on August 15th.

The fast begins with the Feast of the Procession of the Cross on August 1, and the feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord falls in the middle of this fast on Sunday, August 6.

These two feasts offer beautiful opportunities to PARTICIPATE in the life of the church. It is traditional to bring grapes (or other fruits and vegetables) to the Church to be blessed on the feast of the Transfiguration. So please bring a basket on Sunday, August 6 for the blessing at the end of the liturgy. Also, we encourage families to bring flowers on Dormition for the Theotokos. Even small children can offer a small bouquet picked from their yard. (See the printable children's activity for the fast below!Come join us and participate in these special holy days!
